3-D CBCT Scans
Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) is often used to help plan out dental restorations, orthodontic treatment, oral surgeries, and more. We may take these modern, detailed x-rays at regular visits to keep track of the placement and health of your teeth and gums. To take this scan, the patient stands in the middle of the x-ray machine as it rotates around them, taking 3-D images.
This CBCT scanning tool helps us see accurate, three-dimensional images of the teeth, gum tissues, nerves, and bone. CBCT scanners also allow our team to find healthy bone tissue for patients who are receiving dental implants. 3-D CT scans help us determine whether a patient requires bone grafting to prepare for implantation.
i-Tero Scanners
i-Tero scanners are digital intraoral scanners. They offer a more comfortable alternative to messy dental impression trays. Using a handheld i-Tero scanner, we can take precise digital images of the teeth and gums. We can also show patients images of their mouths on a screen in real-time. This is a great education tool so patients can fully understand their own oral health.
Additionally, using an i-Tero scanner, we are able to map out our patient’s orthodontic treatment. For patients with misaligned or crooked teeth, we will take a scan of their teeth prior to treatment in order to follow their progress.
