Dental Restorations for Missing Teeth

There are multiple options for patients who are missing one or more of their teeth:

  • Dental Implants: A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jawbone. Implants can be used to replace single missing teeth or secure a dental bridge or dentures. Although dental implants are small, they provide patients with a stable bite. This is because they fuse to the jawbone during the healing process.
  • Dental Bridges: Traditional dental bridges consist of a dental prosthetic held in place by crown-capped natural teeth. Although there are removable dental bridges, we only recommend them as a short-term solution. Dental bridges may also be secured with dental implants. Implants ensure that the dental bridge prosthetic is held in place to restore several consecutive missing teeth.
  • Full and Partial Dentures: Partial dentures restore a row of missing teeth, while full dentures can replace both the upper and lower tooth arches. Removable dentures often require snaps or adhesive to stay in place. Many patients with removable dentures have dietary restrictions. However, implant-secured full or partial dentures make it easier for patients to eat the foods they love comfortably and without any restrictions.
